Weekly News

Dear Cedarwood Families,
We take the health and safety of our students, families and faculty seriously.  Cedarwood School will adhere to the directive from President Trump and Governor John Bell Edwards to  extend distancing guidelines through April 30th.  We regret that we are not able to be open during this difficult time.  Cedarwood’s faculty will continue the Distance Learning Programs for the duration of the closure.

We sincerely miss our wonderful families and look forward to reuniting with you all in May.

With warm regards,
Kathryn LeBlanc

Dear Cedarwood Families,

I hope you are all staying well in the safety of your homes while we patiently wait for this unprecedented Corona Virus pandemic to run its course.  Never, in the history of our short lives, have we experienced such unusual circumstances.

As we practice “social distancing,” we are all learning so many valuable lessons.  Through the need for continuous instruction, our faculty, preschool through seventh grade, has been diligently working together to learn new tools to deliver videos, conferencing, animated lessons, STEM activities, art projects, and grade-level standards lessons to your children.  I am so very proud of their dedication and long hours in front of their computers and phones.

Here are some updates for you regarding school news:

  • We have moved our new school opening date to Monday, April 13, 2020, for all Cedarwood students in preschool through 7th grade.
  • Easter Break has been shortened to include Good Friday, April 10. There will be no distance learning classes held on Friday, April 10,  so children can enjoy Easter with their families.
  • A list of school events and activities that are necessary to cancel, postpone, or review can be found here.
  • All facilities and buildings on Cedarwood’s campus have been cleaned and sanitized by NDS and will be cleaned and sanitized again before we return on April 13.
  • Faculty and staff will continue to use all protocols assigned by the CDC regarding cleaning high touch surfaces, washing hands, and taking temperatures of students and faculty.  All protocols will be in writing and distributed to faculty, staff, and parents.  We will take every precaution to keep your children and our employees safe and well.
  • Some of you have written to us asking about how the teachers are doing and if they are being paid during this time away from school.  The answer is “yes,” they are all being paid their contracted salaries and are working from home.  They have expressed their gratitude for that as well as for your understanding during this difficult time.
  • A letter from Mrs. Wurtzel in our financial office will follow regarding April’s tuition and fees.  The ACH date for payment of tuition has been delayed to April 10 in an effort to extend some relief if needed.

I hope you are enjoying the many videos our teachers are posting to our YouTube channel.  The link is located on our school’s website at www.cedarwoodschool.com.  I look forward to seeing all of you “in person” on April 13.  Until then, I pray you will all stay well and spend golden moments with your families.

With warm regards,
Kathryn LeBlanc
