Pumpkin Decorating Contest 

On Thursday, October 17th Parents Club will sponsor the Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest.  Start planning your family or individual pumpkin entry.  The contest is free and ribbons will be awarded in both the preschool and elementary divisions for best-carved pumpkins, best-painted pumpkins and best-mixed media pumpkins.  Join in the fun and bring your pumpkin and entry form to school by Thursday, October 17th at 2:00 PM.  Winners will be announced at the Fall Picnic.  Pumpkin Contest Entry form here.   

Wine Raffle - The picnic committee is collecting donated bottles of wine for the wine wagon raffle during the picnic.  Raffle tickets will be $10 each or 3 for $25.  Donate a bottle of wine and receive a free ticket for this raffle.  Simply drop off your donation to the front office and you will receive a free chance.

Organic Mosquito Repellent Wipes made by Ms.Ford's middle school elective students will be for sale at the Fall Picnic. The wipes will be $10 per set and proceeds will go to the Student Council.    


Classroom Baskets - Thank you to all the Room Parents for coordinating your classroom basket.  The assortment and quality of the items in the baskets are amazing!  We hope you will bid on your favorite basket. (Some baskets are valued at over $700).  Cash, check, credit card, and ACH will be available for purchasing bid items. (There will be a $5 flat fee for credit card purchases.)  All proceeds of classroom baskets will go to the Parents Club for purchasing classroom items. 











Spirit Week - October 14th-17th - Note special dress days. Help Cedarwood School be a NO BULLYING SCHOOL.  Dress up each day based on the daily NO Bullying theme below. Spirit Week Info Form

  • Tuesday, October 15th - I'm too Bright to Bully -Wear sunglasses with uniform
  • Wednesday, October 16th - Give Bullies the Boot - Wear Western attire or uniform
  • Thursday, October 17th - Team Up Against Bullying - *Wear Your favorite team shirt or jersey with jeans, skirts or pants.    *Note, students do not have to wear uniform pieces on this day.

  • Parent-Teacher Conference Day is this Friday, October 18, 2019, for all preschool - seventh-grade students.   There is no school for students on this day.  Please make sure to verify your conference time with your child's teacher if you haven't done so already.  First nine weeks conferences are mandatory conferences.  Preschool parents, please sign up for a conference on the conference sign up sheet hanging outside of your child's classroom.

  Cedarwood Parents’ Club Teacher Appreciation - The Teacher Appreciation Committee is looking for volunteers!!  We are looking forward to hosting a luncheon for our teachers on Friday, October 18th.  Please check out the signup genius, and sign up if you would like! Dads Club Campout - for Preschool - 7th grade, on October 25, 2019.  Come camping under the stars right here at school with your child. This campout is for all ages.  It will begin on Friday evening, October 25 and end at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26th.   
All food and drinks provided. Hot dog and hamburger dinner/sausage & egg breakfast.
 Dad needs a tent and sleeping gear for you and your child(ren)
 Marshmallow roast
 Parent MUST remain overnight with the child(ren)
 No alcohol permitted
 Movie and Popcorn on the big screen, under the stars immediately following
marshmallows and smores. Please bring your own folding chairs or blankets to sit on.
 The Dads Club Campout Sign-up form was sent home today with all students.   

Cross Country Team has a meet this  Thursday, October 17th.  The meet will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond.  We hope you will come to the picnic after the meet!

Poinsettia Sale – As you plan your holiday decorations, the Cedarwood 7th grade class wants you to know they are taking orders for gorgeous poinsettia's from Perino's Garden Center.  Three sizes will be available for ordering.   • Admissions Open House for Preschool -7th Grade-October 24, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. (dress uniform day)
  • Book Character Day - October 31st.  All students may dress up as their favorite book character.
  • Blood Drive - October 31st from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., sponsored by the Blood Center.


The October/November  Box Tops Competition has begun.  Students, please collect the box tops and send them to school in a ziplock bag with your name on it, or if you prefer, you may use the Box Top collection sheets to adhere the labels.  The next batch of winners will be announced during the first week of December.
