The purpose of the Cedarwood School Athletic Department is to provide opportunity… the opportunity to be a part of something that is bigger than any individual. This opportunity teaches the importance of specific life skills like teamwork, accountability, and good sportsmanship. The Cedarwood School Athletic Department creates an encouraging atmosphere which inspires and motivates every young athlete to find a joy and passion for sports. Learning the fundamentals and building blocks of sports prepares each athlete to participate in a competitive environment and further develops his foundation for life.
The Cedarwood School Athletic Department is a member of the Northshore Independent Athletic League (NIAL). Our athletes compete against several schools across Mandeville, Covington, and the surrounding Hammond areas. The NIAL is organized so the participating athletes compete in divisions of common grades. Younger athletes are allowed to compete in older divisions but older athletes are not allowed to participate in the younger divisions. The Varsity/Junior High division is for athletes in 7th and 8th grade. 5th and 6th graders compete in the Middle School and Junior Varsity divisions. 3rd and 4th graders have their own leagues in team sports and compete in the Elementary division in individual sports. The Sub-elementary division was created for the Kindergarten through 2nd grade athletes to compete in the individual sports.
