Cedarwood School understands and appreciates that education is not a “one size fits all” approach to learning. In PreK 4's through 3rd grade, assessing students learning styles and identifying techniques that benefit individual learners is a high priority.   Students are engaged in a challenging curriculum crafted to promote confidence and self-growth.  Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are woven throughout the curriculum.  Whole and small-group environments are created to allow students to grow and stretch their level of ability to meet their maximum potential.

Cedarwood’s elementary school language arts/reading curriculum uses research-proven instruction and best practices to help students grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.  Our classrooms use print and digital resources to build strong literacy foundations.  Students read widely across many genres as they  learn the elements that are important to word building skills, comprehension and fluency.  Our goal is for students to gain the skills necessary to become strong independent readers.

Cedarwood’s elementary math curriculum uses a problem solving based learning approach.  Students are taught to think critically about real-world math problems, evaluate options, collaborate, and present solutions.  Students are engaged in actively learning their basic math facts to support their understanding through each math topic.

In science and social studies, the curriculum comes alive through class projects, field trips and labs.  Students learn about the world around them and how our cultures were created through interesting and engaging activities. Lessons are hands-on, where students investigate, explore and discover science all around them.  These rich  learning opportunities are amplified for every student with classes in music, art, physical education, STEAM, and Spanish.

Our differentiated curriculum allows students to be challenged within the structure of the classroom while creating a unique environment that meets the needs of each student and develops each student's strengths.

Students in prekindergarten through third grade have a highly qualified classroom teacher for their core subjects as well as specialty teachers for the six enrichment offerings.
